ADRIAN UPDATE
There will be no make up for the Adrian meet. Our time limit of 13 weeks ends on Friday March 7. If we could not re-schedule the meet on Thursday or Friday of this week we would not be able to make it up. Unfortunately, even with Mr. Regnier’s best efforts, we could not make it happen.
Remember to turn in your singlets and warm-ups to me in my classroom as soon as possible. Remember you cannot wear school uniforms during non-school wrestling events.
Remember if you are planning on wrestling in the MYWAY Regionals on March 16th, Doug Rogaliner needs your information and registration fee. You can give it to me or to Coach Rogaliner on Thursday (3/6) night at club practice.
I will keep you posted on the blog about the banquet and any other events.
Good Luck to our Varsity Mules at Individual State this weekend.

COMPETITION WEEK #7
VARSITY WRESTLING – 2008 STATE RUNNER UP
Congratulations to the Varsity on their wins over Rockford and Lake Orion and on making it to the state finals. It was a tough loss to Holt in the finals, but it was great to back in the finals.
THIS WEEK
MONDAY AND TUESDAYS
Remember wrestlers should be out and done with showers and ready to picked up by 5pm.
WEDNESDAY
We travel to Adrian Springbrook on Wednesday. Our bus time is not until 3pm so we should avoid any conflicts with music students returning from festival. After the match, I will collect singlets and warm-ups from wrestlers and avoid having them come back to do that.

COMPETITION WEEK #6

SATURDAY’S TOURNAMENT
Awesome is the word for the way the Bedford Invitational happened. There were no glitches thanks to Bob Brighton’s computer program, the boys recovered from their Thursday night issues, and our families worked hard to make all of the behind the scenes support possible including the quick clean up. Thanks to all of you we once again showed everyone what a tournament should be! Outstanding job to everyone
THIS WEEK
MONDAY – practice and the All-A’s Banquet – if wrestlers need to leave early to be honored at the All-A’s Banquet that is fine. Academics has always been a priority and we need to honor those who have excelled.
WEDNESDAY – we host Dexter. They have a small team, about 17 total wrestlers barring injury and illness so there are a few of our wrestlers who will not wrestle. As soon as I have a firm roster from Dexter, I will try and pass it along.
TUESDAY & THURSDAY PRACTICES – we will begin letting the wrestlers out of practice a little earlier. They should be done with their showers and ready to go home by 5pm starting this week.
FRIDAY – THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICE ON FRIDAY – we know many families will making the trip to Battle Creek to watch the Varsity’s quarter final match against Rockford at 5:30 pm. If you have never been to the state tournament, I would encourage you to try and go. It is an excellent experience, especially for young wrestlers.
SUMMER WRESTLING – Plans are in the works for a commuter camp to be hosted here at Bedford in July. Coach Rogaliner of the GLWC will be in to talk to the wrestlers about where they should be wrestling over the summer. Coach David Brighton will be running practices for the elite wrestlers for the next few months and I’ll make sure you get information. We will also have stacks of camp brochures for you and information on summer lifting programs with Coach Ditty.

COMPETITION WEEK #5
GREAT JOB
I need to pass on a message from both the Principal of Tecumseh Middle School and the tournament director. Both of these gentlemen stopped me and made a point to compliment our parents and our wrestlers for their spirit and support of one another. It is an incredible feeling being associated with such great people.
THIS WEEK
WEDNESDAY – We travel to Chelsea for a dual meet. A map of their district is listed below. We usually wrestle at the Washington Education Center, but if this changes I will let you know. I have an e-mail out to the Chelsea coach to see what their numbers are and again will update you as soon as possible. CUT AND PASTE THE FOLLOWING LINK IN THE ADDRESS WINDOW TO SEE A MAP TO BEACH MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THURSDAY – Tecumseh Make up. Remember we are wrestling at the Middle School on North Maumee St. Everyone should have an opportunity to wrestle.
FRIDAY – Set up for Saturday’s tournament after practiced at about 6pm. We will again have to go and get the mat from the HS.
SATURDAY – Bedford Invitational – everyone able to will wrestle – report time 8:30 am.
VARSITY UPDATE - The varsity advanced to the regionals on Wednesday at 6pm. They open with Dearborn Fordson. At Satruday's individual districts the varsity qualified 11 of 14 wrestlers for the individual regionals.

COMPETITION WEEK #4

SATURDAY’S RESULTS
Great job on Saturday! We showed a lot of growth. The coaches and I were very excited. We need to keep improving like that going into this week’s competition.
THIS WEEK:
Wednesday:
We will host Saline in our gym at 4pm. I have talked to the Saline coaches on numerous occasions and we match up well with them in numbers and weights. Barring injury and illness, everyone should get at least one match.
Thursday:
PICTURES-PICTURES-PICTURES Don’t forget pictures have been rescheduled for Thursday. I have most picture envelops from last week. If you still need a picture form, please see me before Thursday.
Saturday:
Tecumseh Tournament – we will travel to Tecumseh HIGH SCHOOL for their annual tournament. Their tournament will be similar in format to Milan’s. I will try to submit everyone’s name to wrestle, but they do have a limited number of entries. If for some reason you will not be available to wrestle please let me know as soon as possible. If for some reason they don’t allow us all of our entries I will inform those families as soon as I can. However, I don’t think there will be a problem. BUS TIME IS: 6:45am
TECUMSEH DUAL RESCHEDULED:
In a rare bit of luck, the Tecumseh dual we missed due to weather last week has been rescheduled for Thursday Feb 21st @ 4pm in @ their middle school. See the map link and other information in the Week 3 posting below.
VARSITY BEGINS STATE TOURNAMENT ACTION:
Our Varsity wrestlers begin their quest for a 12th State Title this week on Thursday evening. They will host Woodhaven and Monroe in the District wrestling meet. I want to strongly encourage all wrestlers and families that can attend to be there to support our team. Next week, they will host the regional meet on Wednesday night.
NOTE: Athletic passes will not be honored for these events because they are STATE events and not Bedford events.

Competition Week 3
Wrestling update #3
THOUGHTS ON SATURDAY:
We dug ourselves some holes on Saturday. More importantly, we climbed out of those holes. Our kids didn’t stop, didn’t give up. This is a testament to character of each of those young men. There is a lot to learn about wrestling, but knowing we have wrestlers that are not going to quit, that are willing to work hard, makes that learning process possible.
THANK YOU
Thank you to all the parents and family members that worked so diligently to make Saturday such a success. I cannot express how important your support is to the success of your student athletes.
THIS WEEK:
Wednesday: We travel to Tecumseh Middle school for a dual meet. They have a large number of wrestlers, so barring injury or illness, everyone should have at least one opportunity to wrestle. Remember that this meet is at the middle school and a map was included in your meet the team book (or se link below).

Saturday: We travel to Milan High School for their annual invitational. I will submit all wrestlers’ names and weights for this tournament. Again a map for this tournament is included in your meet the team book (or see link below). Our bus time for Saturday will be 7:15am. Please be aware that due to the format of this tournament, some of our Bedford kids could wrestle one another.

Pictures have been rescheduled for Thursday February 14th. I have kept all the picture envelops from the wrestlers present on the original day to prevent them from being lost.

Friday's Weather
The weather could be bad on Friday.
If we do not have school, we will not have practice. However, we may still need to set up for Saturday’s tournament. Mr. Regnier and I will talk on Friday afternoon and decide to have the tournament or not.
If school is canceled and you do not receive a call from me canceling the tournament, plan on being at the JHS on Friday evening at 6pm to set up the gym. This should take no longer than an hour.
If there is no school and the tournament is canceled – A coach will call you

BJHS WRESTLING UPDATE #2
THANK YOU
Thank you for all the support on Saturday. It is your support that our program successful.
COMING UP THIS WEEK
WEDNESDAY
Adrian White will visit us. I have e-mailed their coach our perspective line-up and he will reply with his. We should know who will have matches no later than Tuesday.
THURSDAY
Picture Day – team and individual – pictures will be taken before practice. Envelops are available after practice on Monday and Tuesday or during the meet on Wednesday. If your wrestler is absent on Thursday you may call the photographer to reschedule an individual photo, but team photo will not be retaken.
VARSITY wrestling has a meet with A.A. Huron and Chelsea – wrestlers get in free when they show their cards
FRIDAY
Tournament setup – We need to set up for Saturday’s tournament on Friday night. Due to scheduling, we cannot get the high school mat we need until Friday night. Girls Basketball will probably be in the gym until 6pm. We will use the time between the end of practice and when the B-ball team finishes going and retrieving the mat from the high school. Once the gym is clear, we will set up all three mats. We need as many people as possible so plan accordingly – the more people we have the quicker it goes.
SATURDAY
Bronco Duals – We will host our annual dual meet tournament. All wrestlers are invited to dress and be with the team, but due to the limited number of matches in this type of tournament NOT all wrestlers will have a chance to wrestle. Clean-up from the tournament will be right after the tournament – again the more help we have the quicker it will go.
DUNDEE TOURNAMENT
There were some rough patches Saturday especially in the semi-finals when my standard mid-tournament head ache progressed to a full blown migraine. The key to Saturday is what we learned from the experience and we learned a lot. We, as coaches, saw a great many positives, things on which we can build. Many of our youngest wrestlers performed very well. Now is the time to re-evaluate goals. Matches we lost can easily become wins with hard work. Remind your wrestler that there is still 10 matches to go and they need to build on what they have done.
Thanks for all the support at the breakfast on Sunday.
